Rapper 50 CENT was such a good street hustler
as a kid he used to sell drugs to his own family, without
them knowing. The IN DA CLUB hitmaker became a well-known
cocaine dealer in his native Queens, New York after taking
to the streets to support himself after his mother died when
he was eight - and he knew he was good when he could sell
his wares to his family member. He explains, "Cocaine
was like weed. I used to get a quarter gram. "So whenever
my aunts and them would have a party or friends over, I'd
offer to go get it for them. "Since I had it already,
I just walked around the block a few times."
Paris Hilton is apparently not happy with
her Madame Tussauds waxwork. The hotel heiress says the model
on show in New York's Times Square needs a trip to the hairdressers.
She said: "I'd like it to be in a pretty dress, and I'd
cut the hair, it's too long," she told the New York Daily
News.
After hitchhiking through the galaxy, Mos Def
is heading back to earth to start on a new movie project.
The rapper-actor will co-star alongside Bruce Willis
in the buddy flick 16 Blocks. The story centers on Eddie
Bunker (Mos), a fugitive being escorted from police
custody to the courthouse by curmudgeon cop Jack Mosley
(Bruce).
Jennifer Garner has sparked reports she's
pregnant with Ben Affleck's baby after she was photographed
with a bulging stomach. An insider said: "Jennifer was
showing quite a big bump and she was walking very carefully.
The bulge is out of proportion with the rest of her body,
which is really toned. I'd say she's a few months gone."
BET will honor superlative achievement in music, entertainment
and sports with a star-studded "live" telecast of
BET AWARDS '05. The top-rated and most-watched
awards show among African-American viewers, the BET AWARDS
will be helmed this year by Hollywood power couple Will
Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith, making their BET AWARDS
hosting debut family-style! The show format includes star-studded
red carpet arrivals, exciting on-stage performances and stirring
tributes by the hottest names in entertainment at Hollywood's
Kodak Theatre. BET AWARDS '05 nominations will be announced
on Monday, May 16.
Also, Denzel Washington and his wife, Pauletta,
will receive the Humanitarian Award at the upcoming BET Awards
'05. In addition, legendary songbird Gladys Knight is being
presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award. The event airs
live June 28 at 8 p.m. ET on BET.
A positive pregnancy test said to have belonged to Britney
Spears has been sold for charity. The test was allegedly
found in the bathroom bin of a Los Angeles hotel room where
Britney and husband Kevin Federline were staying a couple
of months ago. Details of the sale have not been disclosed
Mariah Carey is planning to turn her 1994
Merry Christmas album into a Broadway musical. The 35-year-old
singer is writing a story based around the songs plus two
new songs she is planning to write, reports MTV. Carey said:
"I'm such a festive person, and I love Christmas. I'm
so over the top with it that this is a bit much, but it's
perfect for me.
Usher has revealed he was asked for his autograph
while using the restroom.The singer says he was shocked when
he was handed a pen and pad as he relieved himself reports
Contactmusic.com. He said: "I'm in a stall and this guy
is on the telephone and I can hear his conversation. He's
talking to his sister saying, 'He's in the stall right next
to me... I can't right now. You know what, I'll call you back.
Don't worry about it, I got it.' "And then a few seconds
later, a little piece of paper slides under. He says, 'Yo,
man, let me get your autograph, man!'"
Attorneys for both sides in R. Kelly's child-pornography
case believe that the trial could start in July. The singer
was in court Friday to ask a judge if he could travel May
20 to Miami to shoot a video for his song "Players Only"
from his upcoming CD. The judge allowed the trip; R. is scheduled
to return to court on May 13.
Jay-Z's rap protégé Memphis
Bleek was arrested early Thursday for allegedly beating
up a busboy at a New York nightclub. Memphis and his friend,
Ravelle Talik Smith, were hit with misdemeanor
assault charges. Busboy Mahmud Uzzaman claims
to have lost one tooth during the altercation, which apparently
started after Mahmud entered the VIP lounge and tried to wipe
their table. Memphis couldn't be reached for comment.
New England Patriots QB Tom Brady says he'd
consider a post- football career in politics. The 27-year-old,
three-time Super Bowl champ attended the annual White House
Correspondents' Association dinner Saturday night and told
ABC News' ''This Week" that politics might be in his
future. ''The things that I feel are fulfilling for me are
beyond, you know, throwing a football," Brady said. ''It's
making an influence in people's lives. If that's politics,
that's politics." Brady, a native of California, hasn't
gone public with his political leanings or philosophy.
Almost two years after giving his wife Vanessa a $4 million,
eight-carat diamond "forgive-me" ring, Kobe
Bryant is still showering his honey with surprises.
On Thursday, April 21, the couple's four-year wedding anniversary,
the L.A. Lakers star arranged a romantic recommitment-of marriage
ceremony at Crystal Cove beach overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
