Urban Kidz Film Festival
Full film immersion is on the agenda as the Urban
Kidz Film Festival rockets off for a fourth year
on Saturday, June 4th at the African American Art
and Culture Complex, at 762 Fulton Street in San
Francisco. A one-day fantasy daycamp for young urban
cinemaphiles, the Urban Kidz Film Festival features
short films and workshops specially designed for
kidz 3-12. Screenings run from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00
p.m., segueing into the awards presentation and
a closing reception as cap-off.
The Urban Kidz Film Festival is an offshoot of
the San Francisco Black Film Festival, which was
founded to facilitate the integration of independent
Black filmmakers work into the mainstream. Presenting
diverse works from around the world with particular
emphasis on independent cinema, the SFBFF features
films embedded in the Black experience.

ASCAP HONORS TOP FILM
AND TELEVISION COMPOSERS AT 20TH ANNUAL AWARDS CELEBRATION
The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers
(ASCAP) presented its Henry Mancini Award to John
Debney and its Golden Note Award to Mark Snow at the
20th Annual ASCAP Film and Television Music Awards
gala held on Wednesday, April 27, 2005 at the Beverly
Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California.
In addition to honoring Debney and Snow, ASCAP honored
the composers of the biggest box office film music
and the most performed television music of 2004, and
celebrated the Centennial of legendary songwriter
and composer Harold Arlen.
Over 750 members of the music industry elite attended
the event, which was hosted by Academy-Award winning
lyricist and President and Chairman of ASCAP, Marilyn
Bergman.
