Desmick Perkins is not the type to settle for less, aptly
epitomizing the acronym C.E.O. which ambidextrously describes
Perkins’ persona as CRUNK Entrepreneurial Opportunist.
Serving as owner & publisher of one of the most innovative
burgeoning music entertainment magazines in the country, CRUNK
Magazine, serves as ambassador to the masses, covering the
ever evolving culture of Hip-Hop, R&B, fashion, and other
topics of interest that effect the psyche of urban culture.
Perkins noted by his plethora of colleagues for his cool demeanor
exemplifies level headedness, "I know my time is coming
- I’m not worried," states Perkins humbly with
an air of confidence infused in his voice. Not forgoing the
fact that he resides in the Black Mecca Atlanta, Georgia,
which is acknowledged for housing some of the most credible
and world renowned entertainers and executives, Desmick Perkins
is a well-known mover and shaker in his hometown. CRUNK Magazine
is definitely excited about there direction and becoming a
formidable force in the world of entertainment.
Since it’s inception in 2001 CRUNK Magazine was birthed
by the determination, dedication, patience, and vision possessed
by Perkins and has since then incited lots of attention within
the independent sector nationally. "There are so many
artists that want just a little exposure for the work they
have done. And I try to show them that love and keep my name
in their mouths. These artists are your grass roots. That’s
where the music starts," explains Perkins on why CRUNK
Magazine has been as successful as it has been in less than
its four years in circulation. With CRUNK Magazine being the
flagship of his creative and business genius Perkins also
has launched and has in development from, other publications
like Brown Shuga in its production stages, CRUNK Magazine
Germany, On Da Streetz Magazine, an automotive magazine in
the works, all of which make Perkins an emperor in his own
right with this once grassroots effort being catapulted into
a nationally recognized brand/franchise.
When asked what makes the CRUNK brand different in the sea
of other music magazines Perkins calmly and confidently responds,
"You have to be innovative in whatever you do. Of course,
there is a universal structure we all follow (Music Magazines)
but that too can change. That's what I am trying to do."
Coupled with his ability to stay cool Perkins possesses wisdom
beyond his years offering advice to those desiring to make
their mark on the industry or life in
general, "Learn what you are doing for yourself to understand
and know. Everything takes time. When its time for it to happen
it will. Surround yourself around the right people to learn
from. Take what you are doing as it comes and know and understand
why - and know that life isn’t easy or fair - It’s
hard out here. Don't take for granted what you are doing cause
you could be in a more worse situation."
As the
old age adage proclaims, a word to the wise is sufficient,
Desmick Perkins solidly etches his foundation and stance as
a motivated black man fated to transcend society’s doctrine.
Serving as an example to empower individuals to pursue their
