UNLIMITED DOWNLOADS
OF EMI MUSIC ARTIST'S SOULFUL RENDITION TO BE AVAILABLE
WHEN THE GAP KICKS OFF ITS SUMMER AD CAMPAIGN
Fans
who hear EMI Music's soul sensation Joss Stone perform the
song, "The Right Time" - a song that Ray Charles
and Etta James helped make a classic - in the upcoming Gap
TV commercial will have the opportunity to get a free download
of the recording.
Beginning on April 28, Gap started offering
a free download in Windows Media format of Joss' cover of
"The Right Time" (EMI Music Publishing/Lew Herman,
songwriter), to anyone that visits www.gap.com, and provides
his or her email address. In its U.S. TV spot promoting
white denim, and on register receipts from Gap stores, customers
will be encouraged to "Get the song at Gap.com."
"I had a great time shooting the Gap
commercial, it felt really special," said Stone.
In addition to offering the exclusive download
promotion on its website, Gap will play the song in its
stores and show the spot throughout the campaign at Gap.com.
Fans will also be able to enter EMI's related online sweepstakes
for a chance to win merchandise signed by Joss such as CDs
and posters, as well as Gap gift certificates ($25, $50
and $100), which will be available at www.jossstone.com
, as well as on partner sites to be announced later.
Joss' soulful rendition of the song will
also be made available as a ring tone through Cingular Wireless'
new Cingular Sounds (tm) program, which debuts new singles
on wireless phones. Beginning on April 28, subscribers of
the service had exclusive mobile access to the track for
two weeks, after which time it will be made available through
additional carriers.
At the age of 18, soul siren Joss Stone
already has the bio of a veteran. Hailed by Newsweek as
"supremely talented," Stone counts two gold-certified
albums - 'The Soul Sessions' and 'Mind, Body & Soul'
(both S-Curve Records/EMI releases) - and three Grammy nominations
to her credit. She has performed on several major television
programs, including the Oprah Winfrey Show, and won rave
reviews for her show-stopping Janis Joplin tribute with
Melissa Etheridge at the GRAMMY® Awards in February
2005. Later this summer, Stone will perform at the Bonnaroo
Music & Arts Festival in Manchester, TN.
